True Crime: Guilty as Charged?

Podcasts are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. And if there is one genre inextricably linked to the medium, it's true crime. From the first season of Serial, which hurled podcasts into the mainstream, to instant classics like West Cork, which helped ensure that podcasts remain there.

But how do the protagonists from all those true crime podcasts feel about that? Such as lawyer Joris Van Cauter, prosecutor Céline D'havé, and police inspector Sam Vanhecke - all cast members of the excellent VRT MAX podcast De zaak Y by Max-Lena Vanden Eynde and Loore Nelen?

We asked the four to listen to the first season of Serial and West Cork - two legendary true crime podcasts. At the festival, they'll discuss them with De Standaard journalist and true crime lover Heleen Debeuckelaere.
