The Making of Stem Z

For those who missed it, it’s been an election year. That’s why De Standaard made a podcast for first-time voters: Stem Z. On the one hand, because those young voters might use some practical guidance. On the other, because there’s no better way to reach Gen Z than with a podcast. Only ... were those Gen Zers waiting for a podcast in which a bunch of Gen X creators would let a bunch of Gen Y journalists discuss a string of boomer topics? (It’s a rhetorical question.)

Plan B then: “We ask Gen Z to make the podcast themselves! But for real. Here are the keys!” Marjan Justaert and Joris Van Damme of De Standaard’s podcast team explain how that worked out. Of course, they also call on some young creators, like Gemma Allen and Lamiae Ben Ayad, to help them explain.
